I'll start off with yesterday's first day of my season. I got to my set up early and was ready to go at 4:45. At legal light the toms started and I could hear the flydowns. I started on my Quakerboy Sidewinder trying to work a tom in. I couldn't see him but new he was getting closer. This took close to an hour. All of a sudden a hen and jake come from the open field running to my two bobb'n head decoys and when they were about 3 yards from them, the hen started to alarm putt. The tom was about 35 yards at this point and I could see him walking parallel to me but the brush was too thick. The tom went the other was and I let the jake walk. Today I get back in there thinking the weather was going to let up and it poured rain. Not a gobble was heard... I kept on my calls every now and then and took out a box call to start whaling on it. I was trying to cut through all the downpur and hopefully get a gobble. At just before 7:00 am I heard a tom and managed to work him within range. Dropped him at about 25 yards. Just walked in, haven't put the tape to him just yet but he is about 19lbs. Sorry for the poor pic's but it was raining hard and the camera was getting wet. ![]()

Nice one, congrats! |
Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a bowel movement by the clean end

Congrats Mark. I stayed home saturday and sunday. As I had told you, my intentions was to go out, but hey wife and kids reminded me of house chores and driving here and there. I was honestly hoping to bag a bird early so I could also go to the Chelsea archery 3D tournament, but "no", couldn't. That's life. Season just started, so still time. If I don't bag any, well I took my toys out for a drive instead of a turkey or two.
