I was visiting a friend yesterday and he was telling me about his buddy who called and told him of a large tom he shot with no spurs. This bird was guestimated at 22# and had a 9" beard, of course my buddy wanted to see the bird but it wasn't a good time for his buddy to try and stop by. We were both sitting in his shop talking about how this was likely a jake with a bit of stretch thrown in on the weight, or a bearded hen with a huge stretch on the weight. We were having a good chuckle about how many 28# birds are going to be taken this year since the removal of the weigh stations. Someone came to his door and was dropping off a real nice bird with a 9 - 10" beard and a good size. We were all checking out the bird and started to talk about scoring them when he mentioned it didn't have any spurs. This was the second bird within minutes that i had heard about and now saw that had no spurs. There was no damage to the area where a spur would grow, no nubs, nuthing just a smooth (as smooth as a turkeys leg gets) leg. Anyone else seeing this, or have heard of it? I have seen where a bird has ripped off a spur but it leaves a mark and this bird had no markings like that.

I've shot 3 -4 birds over time without spurs and they were adults. Merriams and Easterns, so it happens for sure... |

Thats bizarre! |
Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a bowel movement by the clean end
