Well after hunting a day and a half with Bigr and seeing lots of birds and just as many trespassers, Bigr had to pack it in and head off to his fishing trip thursday, after the morning hunt.

Well on the way home from work on Friday I spotted 2 jakes in a field just down the road from my house, that I have shared permision in. I pulled over, put on the camo and belly crawled 60 yards across a fallow field and another 20 yards through a corner of hardwoods. I could see the birds the whole time but made sure all my moves were very slow so they didn't notice me. I was now 5 yards from the field edge on my belly and the birds were about 80 yards away. I started calling, and the birds slowly strutted to within 45 yards, I'm thinking "I Know my pattern is good at 40, but have never tried any farther". Two deer came to within 10 yards of me, they were trying to see the other hen (me). I thought to my self "if they bust me the birds are gona be out of range before I could get up", so i decided to bust them. I quickly got up on one knee and the deer just figured out I was trouble when my shot rang out. The jake droped in his tracks at 45 paces.

Here a couple pics my wife was kind enough to take - (with much greef mind you)

This bird had your name on it bigr, if it wasn't for the other two legged turkeys out there.

Guess 15 lb
5 1/4 inch beard
1/4 inch spurs

Nice story. What we wouldn't do for hunting! Congratulations on the bird. Looks like someone else is enjoying the turkey as well...

Awesome job on the stalk. The picture you took is one of the best I've seen. Will have to try and remember that type of pose on a log! Congratulations. I wonder if Bigr is going to get any more opportunities? Where is he going fishing and what for?

Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a bowel movement by the clean end

The two legged turkeys are distant from my mind bud,,, but If I can work out another trip I will be heading your way. It was a pleasure hunting with you ,,, A real woodsman and great father !!!
Sorry about spending so much time looking at deer sign instead of bird sign,,,, Force of habit :wow:
