Is it me, or does there seem to be a lot of reported 24 pound birds this year with the "home" check station?? (; (;

It seems there are a lot more 24, 25 and even some 26 pounders this year?
Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority,and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a bowel movement by the clean end

Probably some exaggeration here and there. Too bad for those that really did get the big heavyweight gobblers. So many with a bit of doubt and rightly so, seems to be a higher proportion of exceptional gobblers (weight) but we do have many exceptional hunters and lots of birds are being taken. To register a bird with NWTF you need a certified scale and two witnesses. (For birds over 22lbs).

I got out the bathroom scale, stood on it and weighed myself. Then I weighed myself holding my turkey. Personnally that is the easiest way of doing it.

I didn't fib, I think that this was just a good year since we had a lame winter. I had a 24.7 before from the same farm that my duelly confirmed 25.2 came from this year. The beard was about the same but much less spur, only 7/8" 10 7/8 beard. I missed with the bow so I brought out the scatter gun and after the 100 yard dash it was over. I'd say he's only 3 or 4.

I weighed my last one on a digital fish scale and my first one ( 23lbs ) was wieghed in at a taxidermist that used to be a check station.

I don't need to Blow the wind , I've shot enough of them over the years 24 lbs ,20lbs 16 lbs who cares anymore. The bird I took on a spring fish scale went 23 1/2 so I figure somewhere between 20 -25 .....

3 of the best hunts I was on this year all ended with jake's being shot. There weight was irrelevant.

I agree that a lot of heavy birds have been shot this year but I've also seen a lot of very legitimate heavy birds and I think that a good reason may be the great winter they had. Surely they wouldn't have lost as much weight this winter as they do in others so they have every reason to be a little healthier and a little heavier.
