Just got myself into turkey hunting last year and was lucky to get a jake.I am still real green at this and am learning alot everytime I go out, after making mistakes of course. They say making mistakes will only make you stronger After dressing out the bird, plucking for quite some time, wanted to have it stuffed for a dinner I just wrapped it in plastic bags for the freezer.I was afraid it would get freezer burnt but haden't. Now my question is how does everyone prepair their turkey for the freezer. Are there extra large freezer bags for them or is there another way to wrap it without chancing freezer burn.? |

I don't usually freeze them. Try to eat them fresh. If I were to freeze them, I like Lonewolf's idea. |

Make sure you get as much of the air out as possible. Lonewolfe has the right suggestion |

i use a large plastic container, like ice cream or coffee, but make sure its something that won't transfer odours or flavours to the bird. Then i throw the breast in and fill up with water making sure no meat is showing, i would even freeze what was showing and then top up with water to cover. You can keep it this way for months and never worry about freezer burn because of the ice protecting it |

I don't pluck birds anymore. I skin out the breast and "vacum-seal" each half of the breast. Legs and thighs are bagged for later use in the crock-pot, then ground up for turkey chili. |

I breast out all of my birds.............usually one side of the breast will fit in a ziplock freezer bag,as said earlier get all the air out and you should be fine. |
