been huntin for 3 days no bird, no gobble , nothing. The property has great sign - dust bowls, feathers etc. I've taken birds there before and have heard plenty of gobblin in the past. the abounding property is farm field, and have yet to see a bird there also. Would you take a few days off, regroup etcc. i've put in 3 long days and spirits are low. if i heard a bird it might change my pespective. any advice appreciated. thanks |

wow thats odd. you should be hearing gobbling at daybreak if they are there. have you tried owl hoot, crow call,etc... right asit starts to get gray in the morn. unless you've had bad weather the last 3 times you went i'd relocate. some mornings they won't gobble much if its windy, rainy, etc... but 3 days in a row is a little much. maybe try a different end of the property also. theres times when i could here gobbling for half a mile and then theres times when i couldn't hear it 100 yards away. depends on wind direction, hilly country, real thick foilage. don't give up but it sounds like its time to try some new area out. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!! |

sit there long enough and they will come, just need to be in the right spot at the right time. When i hunt a small property i know the birds will be around sooner or later. They might of been spooked by someone else, |

I have heard the exact same thing from other experienced hunters recently. I would take a few days off, catch up on my sleep and go back at it in a few days. The hens will start nesting soon and that might make the jakes & toms mor interested in taking chances. |

Around here they have gone silent. A buddy was out yesterday and had a large tom come in silent and scared the you know what out of him when it was right on his decoy and sounded off. He of course didnt get a shot |

I am willing to bet your experiencing a gobbling lull.........during the spring turkeys go through a cycle of gobbling activity, somewhat similiar to rutting deer and movement. There will be peak times of the spring where almost every bird will gobble their heads off then as the breeding season progresses the gobbling will taper off as mature birds have gathered a number of hens to breed........as the season continues and hens start nesting a second peak will occur...............my advice would be to either find another area where the birds are still gobbling or take a few days off(if your season is long enough) and come back when the birds are once again gobbling. Good luck! |
