Brother pulled in last night after a 3 day drive from Alberta so me, him and dad hit the wood's this AM to try our luck. Dad and brother were the shooter's and I did the calling with 2 bird's sounding off 15 min's into legal shooting light and could'nt get them to commit from the roost. Spent 3 hr's on the 1'st setup with the odd distant gobble and a hen passing through at 25 yrd's. Decided to make a move and try another area on the property with no response for about the 1'st hr. Shortly after 10 I got 1 to respond to the paddle call and then me and my brother cut and purred at him untill he came into 100 yrd's and hung up but what brought him in close enough for dad to get the shot off was me scratching the ground with my hand and boooooooom he was down at 42 yrd's. 22 1/2 lbs 1"spur's and 11 inch beard. Brother has 2 or 3 day's left of hunting before he has to head back to Alberta so have to try and get him a bird.
