The last 3 days in the bush I've had a group of 2 hens walk in to my calls and hen deek and then a gobbler get hung up about 50 - 75 yards away for 45 minutes then another hen circle me and the deek from 30 - 50 yards for 30 minutes. I'm putting our a jake decoy along with my hen tomorrow. Any other suggestions on how to get the jakes and Toms interested? F |

get rid of the decoys and allow the hens to walk by and the 70 yard toms will follow the same travel route as the hens ... BANG! |

yup i agree . get rid of the decoys. OR if you know which way the tom comes from put the decoys well past you so if they do hang up they should be pretty close to you. decoys can and do work excellent but i've seen many toms hang up after they spot the decoys. some may be decoy shy but i think more often than not they see the hen decoys and then start to strut and want the hens to come to them. |
