I am heading out with my brother in law for a couple of days. He has never seen a wild turkey and hope to put him on one. Since I am tagged out woohoo , I will be calling and filming this hunt.

What decoys should I use this time of year. The last time I was out I used a Jake and hen. The jakes seemed to shy away from the decoys. Not sure why , maybe they had the crap beat out of them earlier in the year and didn't want to take any chances.

I was thinking of using a lone hen. I have a hen, jake and tom at my disposal. What do you think?

I now only use (1) bobbing head hen decoy. I have found that the jake decoy can scare some birds away but have had hens walk right in to the hen deke and feed around it. I also had a coyote attack it last year so that also tells me its pretty effective.

I use a hen and a strutting jake decoy. I had a big gobbler kick the S@#t out of the strutting jake and I've had jakes come in unafraid as well.
