Had a great but short adventure Southeast of London near Vienna. Chris (zinger) and Steve Valco had me out chasing gobblers and we had some close encounters but no arrows flinged or wads chucked at any birds. Both guys know how to work the calls and we did have a gobbler fired up on the first evening but ran out of time. Had gobblers sounding off in the morning and evenings but pretty quiet all day and not much movement. Thanks for the great hospitality and Timmy's Coffee every morning!

Chris and Steve and one of our morning setups. Had 8 different gobblers in the area sound of that morning but none closer than about 400 yards and apparently they had other things on their minds and didn't want to check out the lonely hen and intruding gobbler...Cool pretty boy of Chris's with a real fan.

Had a great time with Paul hunting areas close to peterborough. Just gorgeous rolling hills and mixed agriculture riverbottoms and mixed growth forest. Had gobblers here too and some spotted in the fields driving.

Tag soup this year but I plan to get even in the future...lol. Good times for sure. Road came out to the cabin one night and we enjoyed some great conversation about what else...hunting.

Rene, it was awesome to have you, your going to be upset but the birds are really liking the call now, In the last 3 outing we have taken 2 birds. It will be Kris's turn tomorrow morning.

That's awesome Steve! You know that's hunting and it was good to get a reality check of sorts. I've had a lot of good luck turkey hunting over the short time I've been at it. To have a difficult and unsuccessful hunt will make the next harvest just that much sweeter... Go Kris go... :readytorock:

So share the success stories! Congratulations!! I figured some of the gobblers we were trying to work would be vulnerable since we were getting a good idea about their patterns from our excursions...

I definitely enjoyed the time and only wish we had more of it. The weather could have been a little better too!

The first morning we were out in thunder and lightning. Rene happened to forget his raingear back at my place that morning but he took it like a champ. We saw four jakes at 80-90 yds that morning.

The next morning it rained again and had a bearded hen at 12 paces.

Had a great time and look forward to more hunts. Glad you made it back safe.
