Just wondering how the birds are responing to the calls now? I haven't been out hunting for over a week and a half. When I was out last our area was still in the mid season lull. Figure the hens must soon be starting to set an that will get the gobblers starting to come to investigate lonely hen calls. Going to head out to hunt the beginning of next week and try and put a couple of more birds on the ground my hunting partner is still looking for his first bird of the season. Matt |

I find that they are hot & cold. I had a tom 60 yards from me yesterday but couldn't bring him closer. I find alot of hens are coming in to my calls and they are moving around everywhere. Yesterday was a quiet morning suprisingly with the sunny weather but it was somewhat windy where I was. Only when I got down hard on the box call and did some serious cutting and I am talking hammering it, did I finally get a gobbler to come in. But alas couldn't sweet talk him in with some soft clucks and purrs. Not sure what next weekends strategy is going to be. Definitely will be moving my set up. Good Luck! |

i am hoping for the same action this weekend we had last year around the same time, where we had 5 toms and 2 jakes run across 2 fields to get to our decoy. I am having a crappy time with the calls, doesn't seem to matter what call, decoy or no decoy they are just frustrating me. I think i am going to head out to the newly planted corn field this coming weekend, got an old bush and stump set up in the middle of the field that i think i can watch the entire back section of the field. Just need to get up earlier and cut some thorns out of the way. |

I was out for a couple hours this morning and the turkeys responded to the calls but I had two hens cut off two gobblers that I think were coming. I haven't been out much so I wasn't set up as close as I should have been, with all the farm action going on these days the birds had moved from where they had roosted a couple weeks ago. |
