Well it came down to the wire, last time I would be able to get out this season although throughout the year had some exciting hunts and great chances for taking a bird. On opening morn had a nice Tom step out about 3 yds from my blind, I was using my bow I needed him to take 5 steps left for my window it never happened. Later that morning had 3 Jakes at about 9 yds but decided to pass. As the year progressed had more chances on Jakes but decided to pass again. On one ocassion I had scouted this nice Tom and had him patterend pretty good. So on the fowlling Saturday set up on him. Sure enough at 5:50 he was down and coming to me like I had him on a string.( the fellow 70 yds down from me must of been jigging the same string, he shot it 60 yds out from me as he was making his way to my hen.) oh well thems the breaks. Anyways on the may 27 my hunting buddy and I set with video camera and gear in hand for one more kick at the cat. Got to the area we were going to hunt early Sunday morn and decided to wait and listen for some gobbles. Around 5:40 heard a gobble and set up on it. Got the petty boy out the video camera set and got ready. It didn't take long to realize that what we thought was one bird was really two. We were sitting 2 rows in an apple orchard and the birds were in the woods just in fron of us beyond a fairly steep gully. They walked east west twice each time was about 400 to 500 yds a trip gobbling all the way. the4y were hot for sure. Finally the 2 gobbles faded to just one. Around 7:15 we heard him gobble to the south east and decided to move on him. We made are way towards the area where we heard him last gobble. As we got closer we stopped I decided to give a call to see if we could spark him up to see where he was. Spark him up we did 40 yds away, into the fenceline no decoy no camera. A few soft calls and it was all over.21lbs-8oz, 10.5" beard, 1 1/8 spurs. A great hunt and a great way to end off the year, just too bad we did not get any footage. My buddy has some pics when I get them I will post them![]() ![]()

Right on, can't wait for the pics either! |
Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a bowel movement by the clean end
