Hey, My kids have enjoyed the Jake's day usually held at the Brant Rod and Gun Club for the past couple of years. Here's a pic of Jason after his first visit two years ago! ![]() This year we got a notification that they will be going to a Provincial Day held in Dorchester on July 14th....not many other details given. Anybody here know anything about this event? Mike |

It was another good JAKES day that my boys enjoyed! I have some pics I can add later, but our day started at 7:00 am meeting at the Burford R&G Club and catching a bus to the Wellington Streets Sportsmen Club in Dorchester. We got there early, so we had to wait unitl after 9:00 am, but we had a great presentation about hunting and the food web and then got into the activities. The had arts and crafts, archery, orienteering, fishing, a taxidermy display and a shooting range open as well. My younger son Jason manged to shoot his gripping hand thumb on the archery range and had a major sliver from a wooden arrow. He got rid of the sliver, got a band aid and got right back out there. There was an absolutely fantastic lunch of hotdogs and homemade burgers and fries. Unfortunately, the skies opened up after lunch really putting a stop to the activities for a couple of hours. This could have contributed to the problem, but the boys weren't able to shoot the guns at all because the line ups were way too long. We stood in line for over a half hours and never moved. At the end of the day, they all got JAKES caps, a flashlight, a keychain, a dogtag and unfortunately for the bus ride.....a duck call too. We had a great time but were totally bagged afterwards! That little fella looks beat! We took part (KAC) of a Jakes Day last year in Renfrew and the kids had a great time. It's a great event to get the kids involved in. |
