I have seen more turkeys in the past few days than I did in the spring. Well not
quite, but have seen quite a few. Has anyone heard anything about the possible
fall season for turkey? I personally would love to see it, as the spring season is about
the worst time (work wise) for me. Long hours and physically demanding work.
An hour or so a day is all I have. Managed to get a pic of the birds I saw tonight.

I know they aren't the best pics but there was two real nice toms and a very
curious jake. As well as a few hens that I didn't catch on the camera.

Tonnes of birds in the area that I hunt, One farmer has been seeing a flock of 20 toms together for the last week. Everytime that I head to my parents place I'll see somewhere between 50-200 birds depending on the time of day.

Spoke to the MNR about this and they said if there were over 200 birds harvested in your WMU there probably be a season next fall 2008. They also don't dived up the unit eg all of 92 not just 92a or 92b

Lungbuster is in Wisconsin. Now I'm curious too. What is the season legth for turkeys in the fall and are tags over the counter? I will be hunting in Trempeleau Cty for a week with Holcombkid at the end of October. Not sure I want to tinker with turkeys while deer hunting but certainly if I was tagged out.....cross my fingers.....I would love to try for one.

I hunt in zone 12 for turkeys, which is about an two hours south of where you'll be Rene...........there are leftover tags avail. over the counter on a zone by zone basis.........go to http://www.dnr.state.wi.us/org/caer/cs/fallturkey/
Permits are avail. for most zones and season runs from Sept. 15th- Nov. 15th
permit cost for non-res. is $15 but you must also purchase a non-res. lic. and turkey stamp.

I hunt in Dane co. just south of Mt.Horeb, Wi. in the dreaded CWD eradication zone! (; :D

we need a fall hunt! turkey hunting gets easier every year. Way too many of the damn things. I counted over 200 last week during deer season. two flocks around 75 and one will 50 probably. Fall hunt would be fun lol, get to pick the best tom out of a flock of 50 lol
