This is not an attempt to stir up dirt, however have we seen the end of the usefulness of the Turkey Seminar?

The cash ( in the beginning)was supposed to be channeled towards turkey re-location??- that is not occurring anymore.
So where's the coin going now???

Recently, a neighbour of mine took the Turkey Course, he complained (as the instructor did) that it was a "Vendor Craft Show". What's the point? , turkey identification takes 5 minutes of instruction!! It's a straight cash grab anymore.

As hunters would we not be better off with "calf moose identification" courses,,,or bow hunting "shot placement" courses. It would seem to me that is substantially more directed towards wrongful game selection or responsible harvesting.

I hunted ducks as a teenager,, I defy most people to pick out a "redhead" from a "canvasback", a "ringbill" from a "bluebill", a female "mallard "from a"gadwall ",,while in flight,( different bag limits) .. NO COURSES!! you get my point.

it has turned into a vendor show, but all vendors get a crack at it i think, at least when my son did the course it was a different vendor.

Be careful what you ask for, there might be a duck course coming soon

I,like many took the course years ago in the beggining. The biggest "positive" about it is the emphasis on safety. Turkey hunting due to the camo worn is statistically the most dangerous hunt around. So hey if it saves a few guys every year from a blast of #6 shot in the face I guess I can live with the expense. We should count ourselves lucky, in other countries the courses are much tougher and expensive. I also took the International Bowhunters certification course and honestly didn't learn a thing but a newbie would have learned some good info, so I guess what I'm saying is training and education also have their advantages.
