well i guess they are going to allow the use of dogs also for the hunt...i really don't see how this is not going to affect the early bow hunt...human scent spread through out traditional bow hunting area's not to mention dogs running all the deer out of the area at a time when the rut is just going to get underway...imo the bucks will be pushed out of there normal areas...and with the does just starting to go into there breeding season.....they won't be back for awhile imo....and i know there will be peaple say there dog's don't run deer .....but how many of these dogs have ever hunted turkey's....IMO...i think its just going to ruin the early season.....whats your thoughts???.... ps...read this yesterday at another forum..." hunters believe there will be a conflict with deer hunters in this sport and this MITH is UNTRUE...after a group of birds have been hunted once in an area ,they move to another area so the deer hunters on that land will not have a on going problem"..... Kit I just found this out today, in my area they are trying to set up the fall turkey season for Oct 15 to Nov 1st. If this goes through I'm done bow hunting for deer in Ontario. I'll be spending my money elsewhere where they care about the people that are paying their wages have to say, I'm fed up with the ministries lack of consideration for the bow hunters. (did anyone recieve notification of these changes with their renewal? NO!, we have to find out about it from the grapevine) Deer hunting is all I care about and using a bow is my prefered method. The first 3 weeks in October are usually too hot to catch the big boys moving around before dark then the gun seasons are upon us with a week on, week off etc. and now they want a turkey season in there!!! They took 3 days away from us (Sunday after Muzzle Loader) I'm all for extra opportunities for ANY hunter but not if it takes away from what I really care for, and that's bow hunting for deer. I'd rather see the apprentice hunters allowed to purchase their own tags to help reduce the turkey numbers instead of just filling their sponsors tags. Please follow this link and voice your own personal opinion. http://www.ebr.gov.on.ca:80/ERS-WEB-Extern...Dg5&language=en Steve |
