I'll be at the sportsman show this year, gonna pick up my first call, a slate one from Gobblestalker. |
Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a bowel movement by the clean end

Congrats again! Go light, collapsible hen decoy and cut down the stake, they come too long which makes them clumbsy and if the soil is compacted you decoy will look like a blue heron. A man purse (fanny pack) should carry everything else you need. A quaker boy push pin call (not the plastic one) is a great starter call, a slate or glass striker style call are awesome to purr with. Play with some diaphram calls but they take some practice, maybe for the second season. You have to get close to those gobbles without being seen, otherwise your gonna get hen f*%#ed. Moving to the bird is usualy the only way you'll win thats why go light is the best program.Good luck

a thermacell, 2 decoys (hen and jake) and a good box call is all a beginner needs IMO. Learn to do some hen clucks and yelps and you'll have gobblers running in ( to gangbeat your jake decoy). My ol' jake decoy has quite a few holes in him from getting a beatdown from 3 or 4 gobblers. Quite funny to see them circle your decoy ( try to shoot them before they rip your decoy apart LOL) |

Tip # 1: Do not call in sick to go turkey hunting if you are hunting on your bosses property. |
