I pass on Jakes now. When I was younger I would be happy with a Jake, it was tough hunting then. Now there are so many birds I call Jakes in so much its annoying. I still take out other hunter who take Jakes. I think it matters if you hunt turkeys a lot. I spend the majority of the spring in the turkey woods so I can be picky.
I don't always chase tail, but when I do; its whitetail. Stay camo my friends.

When i was 13 i shot my first ever turkey which was a Tom, after that i let jakes go and further into the season i had an oppertunity on a jake with Road so i took him.. good calling was the reason he was brought in. Thanks Road. Ever since then the last two years i was getting out quite a bit, and let all jakes go, saw a few toms just to far out and wouldn't come in. Two years ago i had 4 jakes come 10 feet from me, let them all go because sooner or later they will be Toms. Anyways.. know i have to wait and until a tom presents himself, i have to keep loading and unloading my gun, which i have no problem with. Just my opinion and the way i look at it, but if it was my first bird jake would deffinitley due for me!
