Which do you prefer and why? I just got a slate call from Gobblestalker, and it sounds awesome! I see a lot of guys use glass/aluminum, is there much of a difference? Is one easier to use than the other? |
Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a bowel movement by the clean end

This might sound stupid but ALL of them are my favorite. It is amazing how they respond to one call on a certain morn and then a totally different call the next. I carry two of each. You will find that the strikers are just as important as the slates. Each has it's own tone. I actually prefer to use glass slate with a plastic striker if all things are equal. This combo seems a little more effective than wood when there's a lot of humidity/rain. |

I prefer the Enigma glass over slate from River Valley Game Calls. It's one of the easiest friction calls to use bar none. The sound is superb and the versatility of using the glass, slate and carbon and hickory strikers equals and incredibly awesome call.

I have used all 3 at different times(rain, high winds and on calm mornings) But my favorite call is the slate. I find that it's the raspy sound that gets them fired up.Its easy to teach others how to call with too. Ken. |
