I was looking at getting one of those thermacell mosquito repellant gadgets, but I was wondering if the bugs are out down that way at the end of april, or it they dont come out for awhile yet? I certainly dont want to be swatting mosquitoes while hunting, so ill get it if theyll be a problem. also, has anyone used them, they work?

I just got one, look for them to go on sale. The refills are $9.99 everywhere else except Walmart, they sell them for $5.97

By May I always use bug repellant, but have never used a thermacell mosquito repellant gadget.....what does it look like? would like to try it. The black flies are really bad in my neck of the woods. Does it work for them too?

with the way this weather is going, I doubt you'll need a Thermacell until mid-may. I've never needed one for the first couple weeks of the season but after that it's MANDATORY!

I agree with what Paul has stated.

Depending on the area you'll be hunting, you might even need to wear your snow camo... lol

Yes, they do work.

Never had a problem during the first little while of the season, It's always around the third week of may that we start to get bugged out. Also going to look into a therma cel this year maybe.

Depends on the water temp for larva to hatch, but it looks like it is going to be a bad year for mosquito's with the large amounts of standing water that is going to be laying around.

its goint to depend on weather. I also have never had to worry about bugs the first couple of weeks, but after that , the thermacell is always attached to me, if its still out, it works absolutley awesome.

Your GTG (good to go)...ive never had bugs on opener.....usually the bugs come thick the 2-3 rd week of MAY...temp dependant.

Therma-cells kick ass!
