Breaking News out of South Carolina where Rob Keck CEO of the National Wild Turkey Federation has resigned suddenly after the board fired two other high ranking officials with the organization. Yesterday the board forced out Carl Brown Chief Operating Officer and Dick Rosenlieb Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for undisclosed reasons but not the first time the board has attempted this. This past fall the board attempted the same thing and at the time Rob Keck threatened to resign if they forced these two out and it failed. It world appear that Rob Keck followed through with his threat resigning after nearly 30 years with the organization and 27 of those years at the helm. Mr. Keck will remain till 01 June to help with the transition. One has to wonder about the future of one of the most successful sportsman organizations in the world and what will happen with such a significant void in the management structure. I’m sure that more information will come out as this story develops but as a proud member of the NWTF I wonder what the heck is going on. EDGEFIELD, S.C. — After 30 years of distinguished service, including 27 years as the Chief Executive Officer of the National Wild Turkey Federation, Rob Keck has decided, for personal and family reasons, to step aside from his duties with the Federation as of June 1, 2008. Wednesday morning, the NWTF's National Board of Directors reluctantly accepted this decision. Under Mr. Keck's leadership, the NWTF has grown into one of the nation's premier conservation organizations. The NWTF is a grassroots, nonprofit organization with more than 550,000 members in 50 states, Canada, Mexico and 14 other foreign countries. It supports scientific wildlife management on public, private and corporate lands as well as wild turkey hunting as a traditional North American sport. In 1973, the National Wild Turkey Federation was founded in Fredericksburg, Va. At that time, there were an estimated 1.3 million wild turkeys and 1.5 million turkey hunters. Shortly after its founding, the NWTF moved to Edgefield, S.C., where it is headquartered today. Thanks to the work of federal, state and provincial wildlife agencies and the NWTF's many volunteers and partners, there are now more than 7 million wild turkeys and nearly 3 million turkey hunters. Turkey hunting has become the fastest growing form of hunting and has the second-highest number of participants of any type of hunting. Since 1985, more than $258 million NWTF and cooperator dollars have been spent on upholding hunting traditions and conserving more than 13.1 million acres of wildlife habitat. Hunters have also benefited as the NWTF has worked tirelessly to support our hunting heritage and protect and promote laws that increase hunting opportunity and safety. The NWTF's National Board of Directors will immediately begin a nationwide search for Mr. Keck's successor. |

Hopefully his replacement will be just as good! |
Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a bowel movement by the clean end

From what I understand he was bleeding them dry with his salary (over $300000/year close to $400k) So the board decided to make some much needed budget cuts.....Mr. Keck was a good front man, but was what he did worth that kind of salary? Most of the work the NWTF does has been on local levels and the national board doesn't seem to help local chapters very much, from what I have heard....... Don't get me wrong, I am a very loyal member of the NWTF and am very appreciative for what the org. has done for our sport, but I think much of the appreciation needs to be placed on the local and state chapters.
