Hey Guys, Going on my first turkey hunt at the end of the month from Thunder Bay to the Brantford area... Turkey Loads are hard to come by up here and couldn't even find what I was looking for in the States this weekend and I need to pattern my gun before I go... Anyone know a place in Ontario that would be willing to ship some shells to me... I am looking for Hevi Shot 3 1/2" 12 Gauge #4's & #5's (two boxes of each) or whatever else I can get... Send me a PM... Thanks in advance... Dustin |

You would be better off buying whatever you can get locally. Different guns like different loads. Just because ammo doesn't come in a 10 round pack and have a turkey label on it doesn't mean it isn't a good patterning load in your gun. Not sure why you think 3 1/2" loads are needed either. I have used them and likely never will again. a 3" load of #6 drops just as dead at hunting ranges. I don't know anybody who would ship ammo. |

You should be able to get it when you get to Brantford. Narrow your choice down and forget about the 3.5 and look for 3 in. in a #6 with a turkey on the box Sorry terry there is a reason the picture is on the box, because the loads are designed to be faster then a regular bird load. This allows for a tigher pattern on the target. Will Bass Pro Not sent ammo across Ontario ? |

Not saying the Turkey loads aren't better. Just saying that another load might provide a very effective pattern also. The density of the pattern is more important than the velocity. |

Thanks for the replies... I found a couple of places in southern Ontario that will ship them to me... Terry have you been to Thunder Bay... Unless you want steel or low end field loads you ain't getting anything decent for turkeys... Tom, I think its like 2500 rounds per person... I was there on the weekend and Gander Mountain and every other little shop around there were sold out... I think there season opens next week... I got some goose shells though and I might even have an extra box for you... Dustin |
