Whats the best decoy setup? Hen alone, hen & Jake, jake alone! Just wondering what people use and find most effective? Is there a certain way you should set them up? |

the easy answer to your question is yes hen alone hen with jake strutting tom and hen strutting tom jake alone nothing You will find out what works and what doesn;t based on the day, there is no right or wrong answer for this. I have used all scenarios including a flock of birds, sometimes i end up with a bird sometimes i don't This year i bought the pretty boy strutter, will try it the first weekend, and then perhaps bring it out later in the season. I would normally have a 2 hen set up, depending on where i am sitting one would be to the right of me at 20 yards and the other 20 yards out to the left. using the strutting tom it means a real good chance of not getting a bird or getting a mature bird, less pressured birds should come to the strutting tom, or a late season tom wanting to get in on the last bit of lovin late in the season. Now everything i just said will be proved wrong sometime this season, and proved right |

I'm going out my first time with 1 bobblehead feeding hen, 1 foam hen and 1 foam agressive jake. |
Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a bowel movement by the clean end

here's my list: hen alone (by far the best) nothing (by far the second best) Distant rest: hen with jake, 2 hens, flock of birds strutting tom and hen strutting tom jake alone |

I'll toss this one out, single hen being faced by a jake in strut. I have a cheesy jake decoy and stick an acutal jake "fan' ( okay I shot a jake once) at it's rear end. In a field it really drives toms crazy. Just another thought on a different set-up for a field. In a bush, no decoy is my choice. |
