YOUTH TURKEY SEASON; 1ST ONES DOWN

Wisconsin had it's youth turkey season for hunters 16 years old and under this weekend. Our sportsmens club gets mentors together every year and we take out kids who wouldn't get the opportunity otherwise. My brother and I took out a twelve year old girl on Saturday and a twelve year old boy on Sunday. Neither one had ever hunted before .The little girl had never shot a gun before in her life until the Friday before her hunt when we helped her shoot on the shooting range. The weather couldn't have been worse , twenty mile an hour winds and three inches of fresh snow but somehow we managed for both of them to get jakes. They were both so excited they could hardly talk after watching the birds come in and shooting one. We had several chances at nice toms but just because of the situation of first time hunters shooting lighter loads in a 20 guage we told them to not shoot as the toms were about 40 yards. They were more than tickled to each get jakes. It was a lot of fun and we enjoyed it as much as them. I'm not sure if Ontario has a youth season or not but it is something you should really push forif you don't. Our youth season opens up a week before the regular season. In fact our club obtains tags from the DNR so we can take kids out that haven't received a regular turkey tag and aren't 12 years old yet. Twelve is the minimum age to hunt in Wisconsin but they make an exception for our program in Taylor County. It's a graat way to hook a kid for life in the outdoors.

Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a bowel movement by the clean end

That's what it's all about... good stuff, and awesome pics! The kids will remember this for a long time.
