We all know that turkey season is getting closer, only ten days to go! I should be very excited along with everyone else right now but I have one big problem... My PAL is being processed right now. ![]() That means that I won't be able to turkey hunt. Not unless I get it in the mail before season is over. If they are true to their 45 day average then I should have recieved my PAL in the mail about half way through season. I'm hoping it will get here sometime before it is all over. I'm thinking I might try to find a crossbow to borrow from someone and that way I can still get out. If not I think I will go out at least once armed only with a camera. |

Ok if your PAL hasnt expired yet then you are in good shape. As for a 45 day waiting period I hate to break it to you but in lots of cases its up over 90 days |

This will be my first PAL because I'm moving up from my minors license now that I have turned 18. |

Hunt with a buddy who has a PAL and borrow their gun. Check, but that's legal as far as I know. That or crossbow or bow. |

I think a bow is still considered a firearm to, you might want to look into that. |
Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a bowel movement by the clean end

A bow isnt considered a firearm so therefore as long as you have a valid hunting lisence you will be fine. If your minors lisence hasnt expired you can still hunt with a mentor as long as they have a valid turkey tag and a PAL. IF it has expired then your out of luck. |

Carew, under the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act a bow is considered a firearm but for the purposes of this discussion we are talking about the Federal firearms legislation and a bow is not considered to be a firearm under that legislation. One option you have is to hunt right beside someone who does have a PAL. This way you can use the firearm but they have "control" of you and the gun. |

Thanks for all the replies everybody. I'm thinking I'm going to see about borrowing a bow. A buddy from school mentioned borrowing his maybe so I think I will send him a message today and ask if he was being serious when he said I could. |

woohoo! My friend just got back to me and he said I could borrow his crossbow for turkey season! That is awesome news for me! I've just got to pick it up, do some practising, and then hit the woods! woohoo! |
