Whats everyone using for the first day?

When I get out it'll be the 2 hens and 1 jake.

Later on in the season I might change it up a bit.

How should the decoys be setup if you are using a jake and hen?

Apparantly the jake needs to be facing you and the hen needs to be facing away from you. So if a big tom comes in, he's between you and the jake (which is within range) and if the tom comes to mount the hen, he'll be between you and the hen (which is also in range).

Will depend on what I see tonight, if we find them on the roost will most likely start with a hen and a jake decoy to start the day off. But once they are off the roost will switch over to running and gunning with no decoys most likely.

Hanover, Ontario.

I use one hen walking away and a strutting jake following her. It drives the toms wild. Best set up I have ever used.

I'm not sure, with a hen dec it will certainly pull in the jakes if they are around.
I have been hearing tom's but not to sure if a dec is the way to go. Might go no
dec's with just a couple quiet calls and see what happens.
