Guardian draws first blood; jake down

I got to my spot it was about 4:30am and set up two hens and a jake 15 yards in front of me to my left. After I was done with the decoy set-up, I then I settled in behind a big old tree stump and waited for light to come up. Just as light was starting to come up at 5:25 I heard the first gobble (he was still on his roost). Started calling at 6:20am and not even 2 minutes laster two jakes headed for my decoys and hung up about 5 yards from behind my decoy set-up. I already had the bow drawn and let the arrow tipped with the Spitfire fly and made a perfect vital shot and he didn't go 5 yards and keeled over. Just nubs and a 4" beard.

Next quest is for a Tom.

So, the Guardian works for ya?

Oh yeah!... I don't miss the XT.

I went to the camper yesterday to go walk the woods and did a bit of fine tuning to the bow and I've got it shooting perfect bullet holes. I'll tell you, that Mean V string surpressor is great. I thought there was no hand shock without it, but the Mean V makes it that much more dead in hand and that much more whisper quiet.

I was gonna bring my blind, but decided not too. I was hidden in behind a big old rooted stump on the treeline. This time I made sure I had the bow drawn before they got too close. I learned my lesson with that last year.

Way to go!! Mike

We are using the shotguns for the first bird and then switching over to the bow for the rest of the season for our secong tags. My buddy has already filled his first so he is on to the stick and string now or the video camera till I fill my first tag.

When taking close outdoor shots like that a good tip is to use the flash. In this case it would have worked perfectly. Don't be afraid to use a flash outdoors !!!!!!!!
