Well, it was an interesting morning to say the least. 3 of us go out to a spot that held a bunch of turkeys just yesterday. We heard no gobbling at all, so the 2 other guys decide to set up and I walk listening for birds. I walked about half an hour and founs a dust bowl. I decided that would be a good place to call from. SO I set striker to slate and not 50 yards behind me a turkey sounds off.....I'm in business. I sit down, or should I say dive for cover. He gobbles twice more and not 2 minutes later 2 jakes come running out. I shot the bigger of the 2 in the back of his head as he ran straight past me. Never knew what hit him. I decided to walk around so I didn't disturb my buddies' spots. I went and sat down for a while and started to doze off. We were to meet at 9:00. I have no patience so I walked out at 8:30. One friend had got busted, we talked for a bit before gong to get the other guy, who is his father in law. 70 years old and trying to get his first turkey. We walked out to his set up and low and behold we spook 4 toms that were working their way up to his decoys. We felt lower than a snake's belly. He was about to shoot his first turkey and we blew it for him. That's life, I guess. All in the fun of opening day. I LOVE TURKEY HUNTING! ![]() He had a little bump where his spurs should be. ![]() A 5" beard. ![]() ![]() 17.5 lbs, not bad.

Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a bowel movement by the clean end

Congrats on the bird Brooke! I'd count that one a tom due to the fact that it has a rounded fan on it. Matt |

https://sites.google.com/view/north-river-outfitters/home You're not paying for a stay at the Hilton, you're paying to participate in nature. Anything can happen. I work part time so I can hunt full time YOU'LL NEVER SHOOT THE BIG ONE IF YOU SHOOT THE SMALL ONE FIRST | |
