Well headed up to my parents place on Monday in the rain, by the time I got into my hunting area the rain had already stopped. On my way pass my Dad's farm I seen the same three jakes as we had seen on Friday and the big gobbler standing in the corner of his field. Went on to his house as I had my ATV and trailer on so not much I could do with it till I got rid of it. When I pulled into his house he comes to the door and said that I to late as the big tom was at the farm and hour before, I proceed to tell him that it is still there with the three jakes in the corner. Hear is where a perfect hunt turns unconventional, Once we arrive back at the farm we can see the tom milling around the corner getting impatience waiting for the hens to get off there nests in the swamp. We drive the truck into the top of his barn and I get out as fast as I can and run for the swamp edge. Never even took the time to put any camo on just had the dark clothing that I been wearing on the way up. I get to the spot where we'd been seeing him walk by within forty yards pretty much every time he came to the water hole or to cross the field. I wasn't there even five minutes when I see my dad taske the truck out the gate and head down the road. The tom had turned and headed the other way to cross the road. when dad pull down the road the turkey decide to get the heck out of there and come my way. AT that point I heard my dad yell "get ready here he comes". I peaked around the tree I was standing besides to see the tom at 40 yards and closing quickly. He continue right on the same path as always right past me at around 20 yards. I let the 870 bark and he went down in a heap. Not like I like to take them but that bird would never answer calls or come to them from what we had ever seen. Bird stats: Weight 22lbs 10oz Beard lenght 7 1/2 inches Spurs 1 1/4inches My heaviest turkey to date and largest spurs and sharpest ones that we have ever seen. Anyone know how to age turkeys I guessed him at around 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 years old. No pics right now, as I forgot my camera got to wait on my mom to get her 35mm film develop. Will take pics of the beard and spurs along with the fan and post later. Matt |

Right on Matt!!!!!!!!! |
Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a bowel movement by the clean end
