I cut it off and have it pegged to a big piece of cardboard. I trimmed off as much excess meat as possible and have poured the salt to it. I have it in a place where its dry and lots of air getting at it. Is there anything else I need to do or should be doing? I eventually want to mount it with a kit and hang it on the wall. |

I like to lay a piece of cardboard over top as well and put something somewhat heavy (textbook) to flatten it down. Make sure you have your tail feather positioned exactly where you want them. This just help to make it nice and flat to mount on the wall. |

Mine seems pretty flat, but I am worried about getting it dried before it starts to rot? I poured the salt right to it. |

Hey Cc. pick up some borax at the grocery store, around $5. Rub that in it will help remove more of the meat and grease out of the base of them quills. I reccommend washing your tail in a mild dish detergent and then rinse off real well so there is no soap residue and then blow dry from the base upwards, this will close any splits. Before drying rub a little more borax in, this will keep the bugs out. |

Once you get it dry and positioned the way you want it, mix up some auto motive bondo and spread it on the base of the tail told hold it permanently. |
