They're not huge birds but we're thrilled. Our dad video'ed for us so it was his first time turkey hunting and we got to enjoy the hunt with him.

Kevin's bird:
Beard: 8"
Spurs: 3/4"

Paul's bird:
Beard: 8-1/2"
Spurs: 13/16"

This is the third double that Kevin and I have had in 3 back to back years.

Bones

It was the second day of season. I was waiting on a friend that never showed. I waited till light so I got in late. I went and set up a jake and hen decoy in a spot that was hot the day before. I waited an hour and a half and never heard anything. I was getting up to try another spot when I heard one gobble in the field over. I grabbed all of my stuff and ran across the field. Down a gulley and up the other side. Called with a mouth diaphram. Sure enough 3 gobbles. I sat down at the edge of a clear cut that was about 4 feet wide and 10 feet back from the edge of the field. I called again and they were closer. I waited about 10 minutes and called again. They were real close now. Within a few minutes I saw the first one. It was about 60 yards out. The second one came in with a hen and a another gobbler. I figured them to be at about 40 yards. The first one came down to the others. Two were struting and the other one stuck his head up and stretched its neck out. I figured I would shoot that one and not take a chance of ruining the fan. I pulled the trigger and it hit the deck. That dang thing didnt even flop just fell over. I went to where it was and ranged it. It was a 50 yard shot. God blessed me. It weighted 20 pounds. The beard was 11 1/2 inches and the spurs were 23 mm.

Hi all,
What a morning for me this was as I will always remember it.I got to my spot this morning and got setup before light.I putout my decoys(jake and hen) and did some calling.I thought that nothing was going to happen when I got caught when the gun on my lap and a turkey looking right at me from about 15 yrs to the side of my decoys(busted)as I was raising the gun he was off.
I knew then I had to pack it up and leave, man was I upset.
Got in the car and went to my other spot not figuring I was going to see anything. When I got there I saw three turkeys down at the end of the field.I got in there and got my decoys setup approx25 yrs in front of me.I then took out my thriple threat call and did a few clucks and a couple of purrs. As I was waiting all of a sudden out of the corner of my eye I caught 3 red heads coming up the field.I could see them kinda going so far and looking in towards me but I wouldnt move.It didnt take long before the lead turkey was within 5 yrs of my decoys and let out the big gobble and thats the last time he would ever gobble.I learned alot today, got busted but I didnt give up.My heart was pounding as those 3 red heads were coming closer to my decoys.Just an amazing morning.I didnt have my camera nor was anyone with me so i had to take the picture on my lawn.

I got to my spot it was about 4:30am and set up two hens and a jake 15 yards in front of me to my left. After I was done with the decoy set-up, I then I settled in behind a big old tree stump and waited for light to come up. Just as light was starting to come up at 5:25 I heard the first gobble (he was still on his roost). Started calling at 6:20am and not even 2 minutes laster two jakes headed for my decoys and hung up about 5 yards from behind my decoy set-up. I already had the bow drawn and let the arrow tipped with the Spitfire fly and made a perfect vital shot and he didn't go 5 yards and keeled over. Just nubs and a 4" beard.

Next quest is for a Tom.
