footedshaft If you are a turkey. LOL Here are a few pics of the "testing" my boy and i did last Sunday morning. As you can see it rips a heck of a hole in the mesh BUT the end result was more than worth it. ![]() ![]() ![]() This was an amazing hunt as its the first turkey hunt my boy and i have experienced together. He was my decoy guy the whole time the birds were coming in. He worked the decoy string and made my bobbin head decoy look great! The stats on the bird for those interested are, 25 lbs 12 oz, 11 3/4" beard and matching 1 9/16" spurs. Bill Perrysbirds Hi all, Its pouring down rain and I want to go out this evening and see if I can bag my 2nd turkey.I think I am going to go for a drive to a couple of my spots this evening and hopefully see a few birds this way I know where to go in the morning.I think this is a better Idea than going out in this rain.Gongrats to everyone whose getting turkeys.I hope this rain stops. Well, My plans have changed. My daughter has all of her camo on and is ready to go.The rain has stopped and I am going to give it a try. I just got back home.We didnt see any turkeys where we hunted. On my way home I went to a spot where I saw some turkeys a few days ago and got out and went into the field for a walk,I drove 3 turkeys, they saw me for sure.I have a question, will it be any good to go there tommorrow morning and setup now that I have spooked them? yeah, I am going to give it a shot tommorrow morning bright and early. The 3 birds I spooked looked like they were hens to me. Maybe I will bag a nice tom,I certainly hope so. It was almost a costly day as my daughter was playing around with my binos and lost them on the ground.I noticed them just before I got in the car. She was so upset when I asked her about it, but I didnt give her a hard time as she was so proud of how quiet she was during the hunt. Perry Alf But am I ever having fun. I missed Fri and Sat. due to work. So I thought I would head out with the bow today. My dad went along to do the calling. Setting up the blind we watched 2 deer, while listening to a gobble in the distance. 10 min. later at the bottom half of the field were 3 hens. As they made there way out of the small pines out behind them came the big tom. Full strut and gobbling away. Took them 1 hour to reach us but the closest he would come was about 50 yards. He was too interested in the hens he was already following. Later on we drove over to another spot and sure enough we heard another gobble. I along with my dad set up on one side of a 4 acre bush in the middle of the field and my uncle on the other side. He made his way to my uncle within 20 yards and he missed, We had some laughs and headed out. Just glad we were able to see them. Blurr I was fortunate enough to harvest my biggest bird yet on opening morning After calling back and forth for just over an hour I had a nice tom come into the decoys. He was 19lb 5oz with a 9 inch beard and 3/4 inch spurs.I would like to do a fan display of the tail feathers.I cut it off along with quite a bit of meat and was wondering how to go about preserving it. Thanks for any tips Biggary99 Full Box of Turkey Shells, 4 Broadheads, still sitting waiting, sat through 8 hours of Turkey Course Training Still cannot get out because I cut my Phone Line today with the Rototiller, have to wait for Repairman. WELL DONE to ALL Turkey Hunters that have been Successfull so Far. Talk to the Manager at Foodland and he's agreed to put one out back for me. |
