Hi all, I got a call from a friend last night who wanted me to go out on a sunday morning bow turkey hunt. The weather wasnt very good this morning and almost call it quits. We got in to his spot and setup and we made a deal if Ajake presented a shot he would take it and if a tom presented a shot I would get to take it as I have never taken a tom. Anyways we were not there very long when in to the decoys came approx 20 turkeys and they came in fast.We noticed there were lots of hens and three leading jakes. My friend got in position with his excalibur and made a shot of approx 20 yards. He got this jake(12Lbs) and after he had killed it the birds kinda hung around and I made a shot of approx the same distance with my exomax and I missed. We could of had a double this morning but I messed that up.

Well I just got out of the woods and getting my second Bird isnt easy.I got in before daylight and setup,I knew the birds were there.Gave my first call this morning and got a huge gobble back.I thought this is going to be the morning.I tried everything to bring this darn bird in to me but he wouldnt bite.He had a couple of hens with him. What do oyu do when you cant get that bird to come into shooting range?Maybe take my daughter out this afternoon for goodluck. |

I was out tonight and I think I know where they are roosting.I saw what looked like a beautiful Tom in full strut and fan tonight.I have to work tommorow in the afternoon but if I wake up early in the morning I will be in on top of those birds in the morning before daylight.I cant even wait until Friday when I am on holidays, thats how much Turkey hunting gets me excited.I couldnt get the tom to come in this morning as I was in the field next to the one they were in but it might be a different story if I decide to go out in the morning.I have a jake,I want a tom this time as it is still pretty early in the season.I must say turkey hunting gets my heart pounding just as much as deer hunting or more.I cant emagine a bear hunt,I would probably have a heart attack or something. |

Wow, What an interesting morning this was for me.I got out and got setup close to where I seen the turkeys yesturday evening.Just as it was getting light out I heard a gobble pretty darn close to me.I called back and got a response.I thought well this is going to be a good morning.I could hear the hen yelping also.As I was sitting up against my tree I was kinda starlted a little as I heard something right behing me.The first thing I thought was oh no he is coming in from behind me and going to see me.Anyways the temptation was too much for me as I slowly looked behinf me and when I did not even 10 feet away from me and edgeing closer was a greyish looking dog,Im guessing a coyote.I havent seen many up close.I went to turn with my 12Ga and as I did he turned rather quickly and was gone.I beleive he heard my call and may of saw my two decoys in front on me.After that I had a hen come to the decoys and that was that.Gotta work today in the afternoon.
