Took a buddy out turkey hunting who has never shot a bird. I was doing all the calling for him but we were getting eaten alive by mosquitos. I remembered I had the thermacell in my bag and fired it up. Man does it ever work good!!!!! :allright:

Within 10 minutes they were all gone, even my buddy was impressed. We sat for 3 1/2 hours, saw one jake at 100 yards and had a hen come within 40 yards.

Long Live the Thermacell!!!!!!!!!!! :wOOT: :wOOT:

Yeah, I was happy to have mine this am. No way I would have been able to handle it if I didn't have it. My buddy that was hunting with me on the neighbouring property doesnt have one, and he only lasted until 7 oclock and went back to the truck to sleep. lol

I'll second that!

Works fine in a blind even if it is a bit windy.

Theres only one thermacell, and it works awesome! They come in camo too. Make sure you buy the refill packs at Walmart, I think they are only $5.97?

How large of an area does the cell cover?

It creates a 15 foot diameter around you.

You can also buy the holdsters for them, which also holds a spare butane refill and pads. I payed $12,99 for the holdster.

What's the operating costs on one of them/hr? Looks like you need butane and the refills.

running cost is priceless comparing it to getting eaten alive

You can pick up refills and also set up one of the butane cartridges as refillable if your handy enough. also the other butane cartridges work i believe but it won't fully close as they are larger (the ones used for curling irons)

am sure you could pre soak the 'cards' as well with bug stuff

I've done that! I had over 60 bits on my glove hand (bow) alone, not a great way to turkey hunt! Growing up in the north, I'm immune, no itching and just tiny red dots for bites. Painful to get bitten though lol
