Well, friday started off with a hen comin' into my setup right off the roost with a nice gobbler in tow. Everything seemed to be goin' right as planned untill the birds reached the fencerow I was set up on and the hen came through but the tom held up and I lost sight of him. He obviously didn't like something about my set up 'cause he never followed the hen through the fencerow. The hen seemed quite content to feed with my lone hen decoy. She actually hung around for about 45 mins. Just as she was leaving I heard a gobble about 200 yds behind me and every 10mins or so there would be another gobble and it was gettin' closer. I began callin' loudly in his general direction and after a couple mins, he'd gobble gettin' closer. After about 45 mins 2 Toms appeared across the field from me. It took them about 5mins to cut the gap to the fencerow I was in and I realized they were goin' to slip through behind my set up so I opened another side window in the goundblind and positioned the video camera looking out the side window. To make a long story short, the 2 birds hung up for about 10 - 15 mins at 30 to 40 yds just wondering why this lone hen wasn't responding to there gobbling. I finally couldn't take it anymore and really fired up the callin' and they would cut me off everytime!!!!! The one Tom was starting to make a move away from me so I made the executive decision to make a move and try to nail one with the 125 grn Magnus Bullhead on the end of my arrow. Unfortuneately for the video I had to step infront of the camera and stick the front half of my bow out of the window so you can't see the shot on video, but you can defineatly hear the impact from 33yds away!!!! Before I shot I had ranged him at 33yds, came to fulldraw, moved infront of the camera and settled my 30 yd pin just right of his melon (after making several test shots with this set up, I knew the arrow flight was good at 30yds, it just drifts left about 2 inches at that range) when I squeezed the release and watched the arrow buckle his neck and the bird dropped on the spot, I truely was in aw!!!!!! What a feelin'!! The other bird just stood there and came back to see what happened to his buddy! I thought he was goin' to stomp him but he never got closer than a few yds away from his fallen pal!! I eventually ran him off and ran to claim my trophy!!! Oh, did I mention he had 2 beards!!!! Here's his stats. 23.4 lbs 1 1/8 spurs 1st beard 9 5/8 2nd beard identical 9 5/8!!!! Equipment. Mathews Outback at 57lbs Magnus 125grain Bullhead Trophyridge 5pin matrix sight Trophyridge Drop Zone rest. ![]() ![]()

thats great. I'd like to hear more about the bullhead. as far as practicing, how it went, did the blades hold up, what type of target were you using? that kind of stuff. |

Hey Onmedic. Overall, I think the Bullhead is one tuff unit. I bought a pack of 3 and put them on my arrows that I bought to use with the Gobbler Guilitine's (they are the Gold Tip Ultralight Entrada 300). The arrows are a heavier spline and have large helical fletching. For some reason I wasn't getting the greatest flight out of the 125grn Guilitines so I bought the 100grn replacement Guilitine blades and compared them to the 125 grn Bullhead. To my amazement, out of my set-up, both flew quite well. I figured if the Bullheads flew as well as the lighter Guilitines, why wouldn't I use the bigger head. And they flew great. Now some people might not get as high tech as I do when it comes to choosing the right target. But I figured I might as well go all out, so I hung some pieces of CELERY from fishing line and what do ya know, they slice and dice quite well. The only adjustments I had to make was to move my sights slightly right and then once my 20yd pin was on I figured I might as well see what 30yds is like and it flew great but 2 inches left every time. So all I had to do was aim a little right and voiala, Dead Celery at 30yds!!!!!!The blades hold up extremely well. The only weakness I can find is that the body seems to be made of aluminum and after repeated shots with the same head the blades started to smush the soft aluminum that supports the back of the blade and fold backwards slightly from repeated impacts with the grass/ground in my back yard. All you have to do is loosen the screw that hold the blade on the tip and move it forward then re-tighten. On a lighter note, I found out how tuff these suckers are on my very first shot. I wanted to see how they flew on a FOB'd arrow. So I just so happened to have an uncut goldtip 5575 Hunter arrow, which I put a FOB on one end and the Bullhead on the other and at 20 yds it flew like a rocket but slightly right and then at about 25yds it made a serious right hand turn and plowed into a stack of stepping stones I had so neatly stacked by a pine tree in my back yard and just destroyed my arrow, the FOB broke and slide halfway down my arrow but the kicker is that the Bullhead's blade were in amazing shape. The head broke off where the insert meets the back of the head. One blade had a nick in it. I was bummed that I destroyed an arrow and head but impressed with the blades tuffness. So after I was satisfied with consistant arrow flight I bought another pack of 3 to use strickly for hunting. That way I still have 2 heads to sight in with next year and 3 that are strickly for Decapitation :archer: I'm goin' to experiment next season with a FOB/Bullhead combo and see if I can make it fly. Lonewolf, Y'up, sure do!!!!! When I shot, the bird was lookin' away from me so the bulk of the impact broke the birds neck and it seems that as the neck buckled the blade slid around and sliced the side and front of neck. Keep in mind it was a 33yd shot so I was impressed at the stopping power!!! On a side note, that head is totally re-usable, (the Bullhead, that is!!) just have to replace 1 blade that has the smallest nick in it from the neck bone. Enjoy!!!! Outbackruddz ![]()

Wow!... that is really something! Awesome shooting at 33 yards too!... A big Congratulations once again on the great shot as well as for the great bird!... WTG!!! I had some of the Guillotine heads I was gonna use, but then found out that I had to get the special arrows for them which were too rich for me blood so I sold them. I'm gonna have to try that, not this year but next year's turkey hunt that's what head I'd like to try. TFS
