Well it looks like this will be my son's last outing for the this season so here's hoping that we can get some birds going and make it happen this time.

Well NO bird this AM but we should have had one. Very eventfull morning with atleast 7 birds sounding off on the roost. On our first setup we had atleast 9 deer pass through and had 2 yote's show themselve's with one that should have been dead at 15 yrd's but with the bird's gobblin I told the boy not to shoot and I stood up to scare it away, did'nt want to screw the hunt up. A short time later we had a jake come through at about 45 yrds through the thick stuff not giving us a clear shot and just watched him walk away. We got up to make another move and when doing so a bird started up and went nonstop so we hurried to get closer and setup, took about a 1/2 hr and he was commited and on his way, at 55 yrds I seen the tom in full strut searching for us and told the boy to get his gun up and told him where to point it and said to stay still. Still comming and the boy decided that he needed to adjust his butt and we were busted at about 45 yrds . If he only sat still another min if not less he would have had his shot at 30 yrds or under. Got more birds fired up about 20 mins after the spooked bird but would not commit so we snuck up to the field edge to see 3 toms in the field dancing to a hen with No luck. Gonna try to get out next Sat. for the last day of our season but I highly doubt it because we're moving.
