i have hunted in rain before, i find that on a enormous down pour birds will stick to the edge of bushlines, mabe inside a little bit, on a steady light rain, i love this for hunting over a field . My expieriences with hunting turkey's in the rain is that it doesn't bother them much and is a great time to hunt if you don't mind getting a little wet. I would defienatly never cancel a hunt because of rain or a forcast of rain. Just my opinion from past experiences.

Anybody willing to offer a Jake or a Tom to be shot? I have a location tomorrow but my chances are slim there.. Since tomorrow is my last day to get my very 1st turkey, it's the only place I have

No luck huh, me either. I should have whacked that jake and I was o-so-close to that tom, but it's my own fault for not getting out as much as I should have. I have a place, but it's slim to none too.

C'mon there must be someone who can spare a few hours tomorrow morning... I'll bet L2H would be willing to leave the house at 3AM to meet someone an hour and a half away. It's the last day!!! Any takers?

If you want to try, let me know. I was there closer to the opener and heard two gobblers going, one was close enough to hear him fly down. The other was at the far end. I took Rookie out a second time and we heard noting and saw nothing. But most reports where saying that things were quiet so you never know. If you don't get out, don't feel bad, I have a basket of unused turkey tags (over 3-4 years?, I've lost track lol). You either have a good spot or you don't. The stars and the moon, and the planets haven't lined up for me just yet either so don't feel bad.

I've killed several birds in the rain but I have to admit, the more turkey hunting I do the less I hunt in the rain. It's rain with high winds that really makes for bad turkey hunting.

I'm taking a friend out in the morning so hopefully we can kill something in the rain.

One of my two birds were shot during a storm, the wind and rain were terrible! Didn't stop two Jakes from darting straight for my decoys. I had my 4 year old daughter with me that day, her first hunt was a successful one.
I will never hesitate to hunt in the rain again.

:allright: Was out with Swampbuck again this morning, man did it rain,we set up at the spot that the birds came out last week, waiting for them to do the same.Well they came out alright but came out where we were set up last week.We had 8 hens walk out to the field looked at the decoys and just walked out to the same spot in the field they did last week,It rained so hard at one time it was hard to see them in the field,We were all tucked in the popup blind so the rain didn't bother us but the bugs were bad,and of coarse l forgot the thermocell at home so the only thing we killed today was a generation of mosquitoes. All in all it was a great day and an end to a great season, got to hunt with a super guy and will hunt with him again. :allright:

I can't thank you enough for two great hunts despite not getting any birds. We got lots of rain and bugs, and seeing those birds even closer this time and laughing at their choice of travel route in our last week's setup area was funny and just a tad annoying... But hey that's hunting. I enjoyed your company greatly and I am looking forward to next time.
