They're not huge birds but we're thrilled. Our dad video'ed for us so it was his first time turkey hunting and we got to enjoy the hunt with him.

Kevin's bird:
Beard: 8"
Spurs: 3/4"

Paul's bird:
Beard: 8-1/2"
Spurs: 13/16"

This is the third double that Kevin and I have had in 3 back to back years.

Hi all,
What a morning for me this was as I will always remember it.I got to my spot this morning and got setup before light.I putout my decoys(jake and hen) and did some calling.I thought that nothing was going to happen when I got caught when the gun on my lap and a turkey looking right at me from about 15 yrs to the side of my decoys(busted)as I was raising the gun he was off.
I knew then I had to pack it up and leave, man was I upset.
Got in the car and went to my other spot not figuring I was going to see anything. When I got there I saw three turkeys down at the end of the field.I got in there and got my decoys setup approx25 yrs in front of me.I then took out my thriple threat call and did a few clucks and a couple of purrs. As I was waiting all of a sudden out of the corner of my eye I caught 3 red heads coming up the field.I could see them kinda going so far and looking in towards me but I wouldnt move.It didnt take long before the lead turkey was within 5 yrs of my decoys and let out the big gobble and thats the last time he would ever gobble.I learned alot today, got busted but I didnt give up.My heart was pounding as those 3 red heads were coming closer to my decoys.Just an amazing morning.I didnt have my camera nor was anyone with me so i had to take the picture on my lawn.

Well opening morning started out with afew BOOOMS with 1 of them being a miss. A good friend of mine took the course just last weekend and my dad backed out at the last minute so I sent the invite to tag along on his first turkey hunt. We got to the bush around 5:50 with bird's sounding off all around us and bumping 2 from there roost. I rushed to get us setup and settled in then started purring and clucking softly while they were still on the roost and within 15 min's we had our first bird comming in, I kept asking my bud if he could see it but he could'nt as I watched the full fan comming. I had a shot but just as I was squeezing the trigger a tree jumped in the line of fire and I watched the tom run away. We spread out and looked for any sign of a hit but I was pretty confident that I missed and the bird's started to fire up again so back to our setup we went and I started to call aggresively which brought in my buds first bird on his first hunt a jake. Got the bird's fired up again after that to try and tag me 1 but could'nt get them to show themselves so off to a different bush to try our luck again. Spotted a tom in the field so off to the end of the lot we went and started our way in spooking a pair of jake's. On our second setup we finally got a response and and a short time later I had my first bird of the year down at 2 pm.

First year ever turkey hunting, and first day none the less. Well here we go.
Saturday night Valleylad (from Ontario Hunting Lodge) and I head out down the road to try and put some birds to bed, well it worked perfectly we watched as a big tom and four of his hens headed into a small piece of bush near last light.
Well from there a plan was executed on where to set up.
4 am came fast, I met up with Valleylad at 5 and we set up not a minute after we had both set up each taking half the field and the big boy gobbles from up in his tree.
At about 5:30 they were starting to hit the ground. They were at the back end of the field, and the gobbler went silent for a couple minutes. Next thing we know due to the fog him and his four hens are a mere 45 yards away.
As soon as I saw him I started to shake that big boy strutted right past my main window following the boss hen allowing no shot so I went to the side window, and he finally stopped strutting for a second, but that was his mistake I already had him lined up and BOOM! he was done for.
Valleylad and I were like to pigs in a big dirty puddle! We were so excited that someone had finally knocked down a big TOM!!!
He weighed in at 16 pounds which we found weird because he felt/ looked heavier, but he had a 9 1/4 inch beard and matching 1 1/4 inch spurs.
It was AWESOME!
Enjoy.

Opening morning I set up on some birds I had roosted the night before. With lots of hens the big toms went the other way and 7 hens a jake and the tom I killed came out to my setup. My smallest turkey but I decided to take him to try and get one with the bow. Sorry no pics. but his stas are:

19 lbs
6" beard
no spurs.

The second day I was setup in the same spot as opening morning. I was in my pop up blind with my Hoyt Katera. Unfortunately the birds didn't co operate and nothing happened. With it raining off and on. I put the bow away and decided to do some run and gunning at some of my other spots. Finally just before lunch time I located a tom out in a field. Patiently sitting in the fence row I called the tom in but he hung up. Unable to get a decoy out, I stopped calling. He worked in a little closer but still not close enough. Eventually he was started to lose interest so I decided to try and belly crawl a little closer. I was able to close the distance and harvest my second tom. I guess the archery tom will have to wait till next year.

22 lbs
8 3/4" beard
1 3/16" spurs
