Can anyone recommend a good instructional DVD. I have had some awesome handmade calls (Ozark Ridge Calls, a box, slate over glass and several different reed style ones) sent to me from a buddy in the US and want to be able to use them but have no idea what types of sounds to make for turkey...any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have a DVD one kicking around I bought a while ago. It's yours if you want it. If you're near Guelph you can pick it up or I'll mail it when I get around to it. Send me your address via PM, it might take a few weeks by the time I get a stamp and envelop! |

Memeber Adrian J Hare has a video called "learning the ropes". I'm sure many members here can hook you up with one. Also, Chris Kettleson from pronghorn productions, also a member has some free instructional video's pinned in the turkey section. Once you start practicing you will be amazed at how quickly you can learn. The best way to hone things and get confident is when you here them in their own environment. Having a chance to hunt with some experienced hunters and or just sitting around a camp fire with experienced turkey hunters and trying different calls is all useful. |

Thanks Rene, Just to give you a little insight. Learning the Ropes of Wild Turkey Hunting has a calling and Calls segment on how to do the call you need to know on friction calls like Box and Pot calls. It also explains How each call is done on the call your using and what each call means to the Turkey when you use it in the spring woods. There is No mouth calling on this dvd as that will be aimmed for the next one. Hope that give a better idea of what this dvd has. |
