well the hunt camp we were in saw 10 big turkeys in the park they walked right up the road . there was a big red head in the flock looks like the winter never got them.... kinda nice knowing they are up there ... we also say 7 redwolfs and 1 big timber... turkeys may not last long... one member has been hunting algoquin for 42 years and never seen a wolf .. the population must have exploded in the last few years... |

Hey chessy, What area of the park do you hunt Bruton,Clyde or Eyre? I have been hunting Bruton for about 30 yrs & my family has been trapping the area for about 60 yrs. Big Timbers have always been the norm & it wasn't till about 10 yrs ago that we seen our first RED. As you say the turkeys are going to have a rough time. 3 yrs ago I found 2 dead Moose & 3 dead Deer in our area during Moose season. Now, thanks to the Green Peacers the Wolves & Coyotes can't be controlled & our moose population has steadily declined. Kill the wolves & nail their heads to poles in Bancroft. |

So what are you sayin ,that Rick has never seen a Wolf in the park? Ernie & Walt must have seen a few in years past. I seen a big timber trackin one of our hunter down near the DEAD DOGS about 15 yrs ago. How did you guys do this year. How is the new road down to little Sand lake? Did the loggers take out all the culverts? Thanks from B-43 |

there is no new road to little sand.. it just goes past past it and hooks down along and back out to main road by the ball dimond... you are good to know the only member in our camp that old was rick... no it was his first time seeing them the old road to sand still has a few culverts but most of them are old hollowed out loggs..they are in ruff shape.. there is still the beaver dam half way down sand lake walter probably seen wolfs before i have only been with the camp for 13 years.. best place in the world to hunt in my oppion no traffic or quads ripping all around... we shot our moose opening day.. and killed 4 deer for 8 guys.. hard cutting that much land off with 6 watchers |

Hey again, as you leave your camp & turn right & go to the top of the hill before you get to the bridge there should be a loggin road that head to the left down to the DEAD DOGS . Do you know where I mean? It heads across the top of the ridges down to Little Sand. Tim told me a couple of yrs ago that Rick heads down there usually once a season. Nice to hear you got a moose. We finally found a pocket on Thursday but they had moved out. Only seen 1 go past our camp this year.think it was C-23. This year there were Wolves runnin all over the place between us & skinny. I think next year I am goin back to Pickle Lake. There was only dad & I in camp this yr as the rest of them are in there mid 70's & too Old to walk in to the area. I think in the Future I am going to post on this site for hunters who want to hunt 2 hrs from home. Right now with only 2 in camp we can forget about gettin tags. The younger guys are still too interested in chicks, cars & college & won't make the commitment. Later Marty B-43 |

maybe I got the camp # wrong, it was Billy bear's gang. Poor bugger that shot it had a tree fall on his new Ford F-150 in the wind a couple of days earlier. La Portes also went home early with NO Moose. Did you hear about the guys in the tar-paper camp just outside the line. Seems they Got themselves a "REALLY BIG CALF" as well as a pretty good FINE TOO. You are right about the Road Warriors though.Too many guys just want to run arround on their bikes instead of walking in the bush. In our case the old guy's don't have any youngins that want to hunt moose. It cant get any better than being able to hunt moose 2hrs from home but if you cant get tags because no one is interested anymore it makes it pretty tough for those holding the lease. B-43 P.S did you get that e-mail |

That group that camp's back in there now has along treck in there from the ball diamond...they can only get in to the river and then have to haul everything in by four wheeler....they must be allowed more than one??...tire mark's from two different machines...and to walk it from the river is a good hour plus!!!and that's on the old road!! You can only go in the road across from the ball diamond a couple hundred yard's and then you come to the river/creek...unpassable with a vehicle...when the water is low you can get around the MISSING BRIDGE... with a four wheeler if the water is high you have to build a bridge for the bike if ya have to go in after a moose with it....they took the bridge(portable) out about 5 year's ago....Kit |
