Here is a real life scenario And i will give it in two parts. Ok it a beautiful spring day mid week you have be hunting a fairly new property and it's big a little over 900 acres, you hunted hard since sun up but nothing. you decided to go to the car and head home at 1030, as you get to the main road you look to the left and see something in a cut corn field. you drive by with out stopping and you see it is 5 toms in the field about 150 yards from the bush edge. Now what and I will add that you know two other guys have permission on the property and that a fair number of people trespass in the bush. I will put up the second half of the scenario and what I did in this scenario after a few people have.....

answered here.

So I have permission here? I am by myself. I am hunting turkeys and I see 5 toms just 150 yards away in corn.....

I'd be driving out of their eyesight and hightailing it back to a location to try and call them in. 5 toms alone together should be a good chance at calling them in with some soft yelping on a slate or mouth call. Am I missing anything here? Of course if your hunting with others that changes things a bit.

Depending on the lay of the land and your knowledge of it you could ambush them too. May not need to call at all. Generally though, making softer calls shouldn't spook them. Need more info....

I would definetly try to get myself within calling range w/o the toms knowing I am around and attemp to call them or one into my setup.

If I see one of the other guys who have permission or a trespasser, I would move onto another spot. I would report the trespassers to the land owner with any information I have.

sorry should have put in more detail, but the first question is how do you move up safely. when your going in to a bush that you know people like to trespass in and other people have permission on.And that is what i did i turned the car around made a big end around and got to with in a 100 yards hit the call and goooobble. Called again the birds are moving my way. waited about 20 minutes no show, called again goooble, so at this point i' am thinking move up and just as i started moving up BOOM with in 70 yards of me. someone shot and the next thing i know i have a tom land in a tree 30 yards from me. so next question do you shot the bird from the tree. i didn't i got up and walked out. i don't like shooting birds in the tree. so the two questions are how do you move up safely. the next question is would you shoot a bird from a tree? just trying to get the turkey thing going thanks rob.

Personally I don't feel it's safe to navigate myself in the bush while turkey hunting at the same time I don't want to interrupt another hunters hunt...this annoys me when I'm sitting and other hunters are walking all over the place. If the turkeys don't come to me then my hunt is over. I don't shoot turkeys from a tree.
