This past August saw the passing of our beloved family pet of 17 years Sully the Beagle. He was a faithful pet, hunting companion and guardian to our children. Sully lived a long and healthy life living in such places as Stayner, Barrie, Dryden, Fort Frances and finally herre in Thunder Bay. He loved hunting deer and rabbits along with our fishing trips and rides in the boat. He will be deeply mourned and missed,

Sorry to hear the sad news, Beamer.

It's always a bummer when it's time for them leave us, but the great memories will always will be there for the whole family to look back on. That always helps when dealing with the loss of our companions.

Great pictures, btw.

Sorry to hear the sad news. We always had beagles when I was growing up, great family pets and great around the kids as well as amazing tracking dogs.

I have to ask you, did Sully know when to follow rabbit trails and when to follow deer trails or did he follow both all the time regardless of what you were hunting?

He was a great deer hound and ran scent in the air and not tracks, it was neat to follow him on a chase in snow as he would cut deer off instead of following their tracks. One fond memory was off him chasing a nice 10 point and the fellow who dropped the deer said Sully was running so hard he ran into the deer as it hit the leaves. He was a fair rabbit dog at best and would run them but only if other dogs were chasing, he just seemed to key on deer and chasing rabbits wasn't on his mind during deer season.

That's very sad. I just recently got a brittany pup but my last dog before that was a beagle so I kinda have a soft spot for them. You move on but never forget.
