Bad Dog and April Dawn broke in a nice food plot thisa past weekend ina spot where they seen some great bucks last year and Meg and I got one worked up in another great area where the deer move through to a bedding area on the land that we hunt on.

I didn't get any pics of the plots but I will be headed back up in a couple of weeks to see how they are doing. My dad and I went up yesterday and seeded both plots down. I thought I would try something different with mine, so I seeded it down with oats first, and then we raked it to bury the oats so the birds and squirrels wouldn't take them all away. Then I seeded over it with a food plot mix that I had bought from Bishop's Seeds a few years ago. It has some clover, brassica, sugar turnip, and fodder rape (anyone know what the heck that is??) It will be interesting to see how the oats work with the mix. I then seeded Bad Dog's plot down with the food plot mix.

Anyways glad that we could get them in and glad to see the rain come this morning! Should get them off to a great start :D I wiil post pics when I get some

Sounds good , Can't wait to see the resaults and the growth.

Oats will be intresting as it should come up to the perfect hight and not go to seed planted this time of year . It will be intresting to see. Put in another plot in yesterday on another property with oats as well. Expecting something at this end as well . :hick:

Well boys and girls....let this be a lesson to you......

The oat thing.....doesn't work! The reason...TURKEYS!!!! Bad Dog went up on the weekend to see how the plots were coming, and they had completely annihilated my plot :( There was a bit of the plot mix coming up but fo rthe most part it looked like someone raked the entire thing! I am going to head up on Sat morning and re-seed the plot with the plot mix and hopefully it will come up in time!!

There is an open season on turkeys in 63A now if anyone wants to tag along :shoot: :turk:
