I think you would be better advised to try and fertilize the natural vegetation on crown lands you hunt. Such as Black & Raspberry, mast producing trees, ect..

If memory serves me right, I had a conversation a few years ago with Steve Elmy from Rackstacker. He used to have a mix that was specifically meant for hand telecast on trails which would be similar to your question. I can't remember what all was in the mix but I did get a free sample and tried it around my "honey hole". I can't say I had great results but I am in a very well drained soil (donnybrook) which has large cobbles and very little topsoil cover. Moisture regime is a big issue there. It's pretty hard to get anything to produce without a lot of attention and care. You could always check the Rackstacker website and find out about the mix. In my experience Steve is very easy to get along with.

make sure u get a min of 4 hrs of sunlight, i have tried clover and rye and worked ok...i may have to trim a few branches next year cause sunlight is my biggest issue and leaf cover in the fall...my strip is a atv trail about 70 yrds long ...watched many rabbits and partridge on a couple of sits but deer were only going thru during night time

sunlight is restrictive, dpends upon leaf cover.
