Has anyone been out to refresh their mineral sites. I think I might try an get out tomorrow night to refresh mine. REally thinking hard about setting up another behind where I work as there were some pretty nice rubs showing up there late in the season. Just have to clear some trees to make room. Matt |

Going to re-plenish this weekend as well, our snow is finally low enough to get the side buy side thought the bush without getting burried to the fenders! |

My minerals sites usually don't start getting hit in the spring until everything is in full blown growing stages... Seems like we need some fresh spring rains and what not. I usually go out and replenish them early as well. Mostly just to get out in the bush again... |

I will replenish soon but even if I don't get to it right away there will be big holes in the ground where the minerals were and they are getting what they need. |

Well finally made it out to my mineral sites to refresh them. But the deer have alrady beaten me to it. They have been there quite afew time by the looks of it looking for more mineral. Filled my #2 site with liquid Deer Cane and placed a IR5 camera over looking it 12' in the tree Filled my #1 site with Black Magic powder and place a IR5 camera over looking it 12' in the tree. Hoping by placing the cameras that high in the tree the thrives won't be able to get to them. Nothing has stopped them in the past even aircraft cable. Now hopefully good locks and the height will. Hopefully they don't see them if they are up higher. I think the best thing is to hide them as well as possible. Some of the camera's with homemade bark on them hidden in a pile of junk also seem to be a great way to hide a camera. Good Luck. |

I've got many of my sites replenished now. Good old di-cal phosphate, trace minerals with vitamins A, B and C and of course salt. All trace elements there. Rackstacker is what $30 for 10 lbs before tax? Not even feasible for me. I can make up close to 100lbs of the same for $30 doing it myself and I don't want the added attraction of some sweet smell as I don't need to attract bears. The deer all know where the minerals are. Just sayin. Good luck Mattones! |

I agree with Rene, don't add any sweet stuff to the mineral mix or it attracts bears. I put some syrup on my rack stacker block a couple of years back and it attracted a big male who feed on it all summer. Here he is after he was shoulder mounted.

I thought normaly the antlers grew behind the ears. I put out some deer cane on a rotten stump a month ago. I wonder if they hit it yet |

Just started a mineral site with "Enhancer" yesterday...no idea what it really is or where it came from, was given to me by an old fella that hunts with us..turned up about a 3' foot square area and poured it on and mixed it into the soil. Plan to set up the trail camera and see if they are hitting it this week. Was a small bag and did the entire site, plan on mixing up some of the di-calcium, TM salt and stock salt mixture that has been poste here and use that to replenish the site
