Well again ,

These deer must be wrong. I have been hammered by some people in the past for not knowing what I'm doing and for some of that it could be true BUT for someone who dosnt listen to the so called experts. I'd have to think this is not to bad.

5 years ago the deer on this property would have been gone long ago to winter yards. Last winter as a matter of fact but this year, Well in an area with modest deer numbers what do you think?

I should be not talking about the facts and keeping this info for myself and friends but I'm not about that.

Here is a deer trail leading to the plots. I took these pictures on the weekend.

The trail is littered like this.

At the time of the photo , my son if he stepped off the trail would be up to his knees in snow but the beaten path to the plot behind him has made walking easy. :hick:

Remember This ?

Here he is on the plot. Deer have been on it all winter eating whatever was remaining of the plot

Hey Bigr,

Other than your plots, what has changed in the past 5 years? I am assuming that the deer able to get to the food source under the snow and ice?

BTW, What is all that white stuff on the ground? We have 30 degress with humidex here in Ottawa. I almost had to run the A/C last night to sleep (No joke) I can't ever remember running the A/C in spring yet alone the last day of winter.

The only thing that has changed has been cutting out some of the hardwood out of this bush and yes the deer have gone to it for the trimmings. BUT There were never even close to the amount of deer wintering here EVER as well as no reason for them to venture in these branches of bush to the plots. We did have modest snow falls this year as well but again , We have had less before.
The white stuff is going fast. here as well. 20+ here in sudbury today. :yikes:

You have to love it when a plan comes together. That's looking really good and you know you're doing something right when they're using your property year round.

I've only been on this forum for a short time but your tips Ray have been great. Don't know if I should be saying this but anyone who says you don't know what your talking about should probably get some professional help. Oops!

Let me think, Uh , no agriculture in your area, other than your food plot's, ya , i could see this. If i was a deer i would sooner scrounge your plot than be eating bud's, but that is my opinion, and i am in no way an expert.lol. I would say up where you live the plot's do make a difference . :hick:

Great point. Just a heads up. We have other plots less then a half mile away and they don't get this attention any winter including this one.
