Ended up at archers nook yesturday and saw this stuff. it was cheap but was wondering if anyone has tried it around here. looks like some good reviews down in the states and after being told to look at fall rye/winter rye i noticed this stuff is 84% rye grass with some brassicas and clover mix. Ill see what happends but just looking to see if anyone has tried it themselves

Most buck on a bag companies have a "throw and grow and shoot a huge buck" product that contains mostly rye grass. It's completely different from the highly recommended rye grain (fall rye/winter rye/etc) in that it's not as nutritious or attractive as winter rye and it can become an aggressive pest because it reseeds itself so well. It does establish easily though and is decent for a food plot on a budget. Although if you're on that much of a budget, it'd probably save money to just buy the ryegrass from a co-op. I suggest give it a try but don't plant it near a plot you're planning on planting with something else later. |

Evolved Harvest is the one company I have a bit of respect for in there pricing. I have used there products with success as well. That being said and I'll repeat what IKantski has said, "RyeGRASS" is filler stuff and you might not want it in a plot. Things I wouldn't want to see much at all in a mix. Ryegrass Millet Trefoil Timothy Not worth the money IMOP |
