I finally was able to get my gear together and find a time to go try my first foodplot recelty as well as setup the 2 man ladder stand i was given for christmas ( those things area heavy and a pain in the ass to setup!) I have sole permission to deer hunt this property and having to cross a creek and climb through brush to get to my area about 1/4 mile off the road my only choice was a weed eater, rakes and hoes and spray to get the plot made. this is my first try at it and i planted some biologic brassicas and some clover mixed in. this plot was planted last week(later then i intended) and its coming through alright now. i left an old stump in the plot that ill lay a salt block on top. the plot is down in a bottom in some very thick stuff about 500 yds from a bedding finger jutting out into a neiughbouring field. ![]() I took the girlfriend out this afternoon to put up the stand. its a 17' double man and heavy as heck but we managed to get it up. just have to get some burlap to hang around the stand to conceal the bottom half of the body. the tree has great background coverage as this was the only suitable tree. now all i need to do is find a cheap set of waders to access this stand in the fall and hopefully things will work! ![]() Dont know much about foodplots or how to properly do them but without the proper equiptment i think its turning out ok for a first go
