I got this acre of beans in at the 1st of June. Didn't have high hopes for it with the July drought but it seems to be doing ok now. Went in yesterday afternoon to check cameras and there were 4 deer and a bunch of turkeys in there.
I put this cage out 12 days ago. Its hard to see in pic but the plants are 5-6 inches above the rest of the field. They sure are mowing it off. I don't expect to get many beans but it should be good early season.

There weren't any bucks in the pics(as usual) so I left the cards in the cameras. Next week I'll post an update...Randy

I thought I'd post an update........The beans are actually making allot of pods. It seems as the deer nip off the of the beans the pods just bunch up near the bottom of the plant. The beans in the cage are are10-12 '" above the field now.
Today I put in a half an acre of winter wheat on the trail leading to the food plot. I cleared out a spot for my pop up blind so that I can see both plots. I think it should be killer late season. When I was just finishing up with the fertilizer a big doe came out on to the trail to see what I was doing :D
