rye oats clover and chicory getting some action

redid and old clover plot that was about 50 percent clover and 50 weeds ...planted rye and clover and chicory and about a week after over seeded with oats to any bare spots....so far so good ...3 bucks enjoying it ...

the lack of rain is crazy for sure planted it mid august when we got a bit of rain putting another plot right beside it this week :runningdeer:

I got one spot that as soon as something pokes out of the ground , there eating them ! Tough year but that plot looks great ! Hope my plot that went in around the same time is looking green like that !

i went heavy on the clovers and they jumped up better than ever ..... also put in another plot today of the same ... never planted anything this late so it might be a bit late for clover but i had some extra seed to get rid of ....

If anything ,,, If it comes up ok,, You can plow it under next summer for green fert for a brassica plot. Win Win.

Wow...that is a really nice plot, you must have great soil or you fertilized on the heavy side. Either way, you did a great job.
What was the lbs. of mixtures you used ? fertilizer ? planting method ?
Looks like your going to have some good evening hunts.

no fertilizer used but i did lime it 2 summers ago as i planted a pure clover plot that started to get some weeds .... watched 5 deer in it tonight but none ventured near me ...as for planting i just broadcasted then packed it with the 4 wheeler... went real heavy on the clover and 50/50 on the rye and clover...as for poundages i 'm not sure and i reseeded any bare spots 2 weeks after

Not sure where you're located but the farmers have been taking beans off around my area for a week now. Food plots could really be utilized this season and yours looks amazing.
